Project: Input Method for Thai Language on Mobile Phones
?
Affiliation: National Electronics and Computer Technology Center, Thailand
Starts: 3/16/05 Ends: 10/16/05 Leaders: htk, porntip Keywords: Thai Language, Input Method, Mobile Phones, T9, Word prediction Participants: 26 (view all) Description: As of this year, 2005, Thailand has no national standard for the input method and keypad layout of Thai language on the mobile phones. As SMS and MMS are becoming more and more popular, we are in need of a standard input method for handling the Thai language on the mobile phones. At present there are many different keypad layouts, and many different techniques for input. The objective of this project is to run a forum of developers so that we may draft a standard on the Input Method for Thai Language on the Mobile phones. This standard may include two parts: (i) the keypad layout and (ii) how to use the keypad to compose Thai words efficiently and correctly. It is expected that once we have a TISI approved keypad layout and standard input method, the manufacturers of mobile phone handsets can comfortably make them to the national standard. Several existing implementors are invited to express their designs and discuss the advantages of each method so that the working group can agreed upon a certain method. |
