They seek to support projects by young people who are creating impact with innovative solutions to social problems, especially those using information and communication technologies (ICTs) for development. The MOA was signed by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and HENAAC Chair and CEO Raymond Mellado. Both HENAAC and ITA recognize that America's future workforce will be comprised of diverse individuals with valuable talents and strengths and that technical literacy is critical to continue improving efficiencies, increasing savings and provide excellent services to the residents of the City of Los Angeles. HENAAC will solicit and obtain monetary contributions, disseminate information concerning the internship program among colleges and universities, and encourage college students and professionals to consider ITA as an employer of choice. Students participating in each two-year internship program will work up to 40 hours per week while completing their university coursework. Participants will rotate through unique assignments which will serve to expose them to the major areas of importance for the particular professional discipline in which the participants are being developed. To be eligible to participate in the internship program, students must be at the junior, senior or graduate level in a recognized university or educational institution and must be majoring in business, engineering (electrical, electronic or computer), computer information systems, or business information systems. All applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. HENAAC will provide the initial screening for all applicants and identify candidates who have demonstrated exceptional potential and will schedule them for an interview with the ITA's Internship Selection Committee.
