Leadership/ Change in Conflict Resolution *04-05 Syllabus

The emerging areas of leadership are:
Individual Leadership vs.
State Leadership.

These areas are related to Intellectual Property Rights.

1.) Individual Leadership Theory Learning Goals:

   a.)Understanding theoretical perspectives in leadership and organizational change including complex systems in leadership, norms; and change strategies.

   b.)Understanding and appraisal of scholarly research and writing in general, specific and relative areas of leadership and organizational change. )        

2.) State Leadership Pragmatic Learning Goals:

   a.)Application of theory to leadership and organizational change.

   b.)Specific cases are welcome. Reflection on application of theory and design methodology in theoretical research and action research including practical investigation of ideas, norms, and change strategies.

The syllabus for this discussion shall be "a rolling format" that changes as need changes. Recommendations are that a background in Paul de Man, Ludwig von Bertalanffy and Gregory Bateson could be helpful. As the discussion continues, other sources may be more appropriate.

So, for a lively discussion, the rules are designed to change often!!!

7. falsification (vis a vis Karl Popper)
8. further identify systems, results, conclusions, discussion
9. peer review and interpretation(s).

Class requirements:

Grading is in three parts:

1.(30%).Participation - Participants shall engage in dialogues and shall document number of response times

2.(30%) Position Papers - Participants will write five, position papers (2-3-pages) founded upon readings, message boards and/or rotisserie discussions. Due dates are TBA.

3. (30%)Term Paper - Participants shall document their progress in the course (i.e. using a blog format for example)leading to a 15 page term paper. The topic is chosen by the student. The due date is ten days prior to the last class.

4.(10%)Students shall take the final examination(s) and assessments.
