One of the most difficult (and rewarding) challenges for this project will be the effort to encourage the wide variety of gathered disciplines to participate in a fruitful exchange across barriers of subject area, framework, and vocabulary.  Many of you have experience facilitating this kind of cross-disciplnary exchange -- whether through traditional courses filled with mixes of different kind of students or through explicit experimentation with connecting courses from diverse contexts.  What lessons have you learned from your attempts to talk and teach across disciplines that might bear on this project?
