You can create links to the table of contents for a code, link to a chapter of the code, and link to a section of the code.

2
  1. How do I create a link to the table of contents a code? You can link to a specific code of the statute by adding ?link=[statute code] at the end of the statutes address.  For example, the Transportation Code table of contents link is http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us?link=TN.

  2. How do I create a link to a chapter of a code? You can link to chapter documents in the Texas Constitution and Statutes website using the following format:   http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/docs/CD/TYPE/CD.#.ext
3
  • CD: is a unique two letter statute code (eg., "TN" for Transportation Code)
  • TYPE: is the htm, pdf, or Word file type only
  • #: is the chapter number
  • "ext" is the file extension type (i.e., htm, pdf, or doc)
4
  • For example, the link to Chapter 551 of the Transportation Code for each file type is:
  • 5 6
  • How do I create a link to a section of a code? You can link directly to statute section by adding an anchor tag (e.g., #chapter.section).  For example, to link to section 101 of Chapter 551 of the Transportation Code, include #551.101 so that the entire link is:
    http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/docs/TN/htm/TN.551.htm#551.101
Chapter numbers are not unique within Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes; therefore, the format is different.  You can link directly to an article by adding an anchor tag (e.g., CV.title.chapter.type#article).  For example, to link to Article 6400 of Chapter 8 of Title 112 of Vernon's, include #6400 so that the entire link is http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/Docs/CV/htm/CV.112.8.htm#6400
NOTE: In cases where there is no chapter for a title, use 0 for the chapter (e.g., CV.title.0.type#article).
