(more)These are the California state pattern jury instructions. The instructions in the 400 series (Instructions 400-463) cover general negligence; those in the 500 series, medical negligence (i.e., malpractice); those in the 600 series, other professional negligence; the 1000 series, premises liability; and the 1200 series, products liability. Like the Restatement, these can provide a thumbnail sketch of the doctrine along with some commentary. They have this virtue: because they are written to be delivered orally to a lay audience -- the jury -- they are written in relatively comprehensible language. (less)
